Rungwe District Council has an ICT Unit which is an independent unit. Its main functions is to give advice to The District Executive Director on Electronic Matters related to computer and information systems.More to that, to Manage and Administer Council Information Systems such as EPICOR, PREM, BEMIS,GOTHoMIS,LGRCIS, PLANREP,RITA and LAWSON , also Council LAN and Server Management as well as doing preventive maintenance for all Computer Accessories.
The ICT Unit Objective in The Council:
ICT is for Service delivery,Transparent and Development
The Unit perform the following activities:-
Acquire/ develop, maintain and update software system;
Establish and maintain LAN and WAN;
Provide trouble shooting services to all Council computer accessories;
Design and enforce system security;
Facilitate e-Government and e-Business operation;
Develop data sharing policy in the Secretariat;
Manage IT system;
Undertake studies and propose areas of using IT as an instrument to improve service delivery in the Council;
Install and upgrade the database servers and application tools;
Allocate system storage and planning for future storage requirements for the database systems;
Create primary database storage structures (table space) for different designed applications;
Modify database structures as recommended by application;
Manage and review MIS specifications and service contracts.
Promote Information sharing, transparency and accountability within the
Council and towards the general public
Promote efficient communication among the Council’s staff and stakeholders
Ensure the uninterrupted functioning of those manual and automated information systems and information networks crucial to the Council’s operation
Ensure development and maintenance of ICT systems
Prevent the intentional or unintentional destruction of information
